Hikoi ki Paerau is the trade name for several hikes operated by Aorangi Experiences Ltd.
Our vision is to create a world class experience that allows the visitor to immerse themselves in the land of Aotearoa, it's people, it's history, it's very nature.
We do this by taking our clients to visit natural bush and forest that has not been modified, by having knowledgeable guides, and by sharing our passion for New Zealand's unique flora, fauna and culture. Aorangi Experiences Ltd is a company set up as a joint venture by River Valley Ventures Ltd. and the Aorangi Awarua Trust.
Hikoi ki Paerau brings together the experience and professional management practices of River Valley Ventures Ltd., with the cultural and natural heritage of local Maori.

River Valley Ventures Ltd. has been rafting people down the Rangitikei River since 1982, and accommodating them at River Valley Lodge since 1987.
Aorangi Experiences logo depicting the relationship of the land and the people
The Aorangi Awarua Trust represents the owners, (approximately 1000), of the land known as Aorangi Awarua. These families can trace their whakapapa, (ancestry), back hundreds of years, to a common ancestor, a Maori explorer known as Tamatea Pokai Whenua, (Tamatea who explored the land).
The logo has been developed to represent the history of the owners.
